Professional Edge Diploma Scheme

Under the proposals for the Retail Distribution Review (RDR), the benchmark qualification for advisers will increase from the current Certificate in Financial Planning (or equivalent) to a qualification which is equivalent to QCA Level 4. In connection with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) we have been able to obtain preferential rates for advisers wishing to obtain Diploma status.

How many credits do you need?

To complete the Diploma you must accumulate a minimum of 140 credits. At least 80 credits must be at Diploma level (withdrawn AFPC units these will count towards this requirement). Each Diploma unit provides 20 credits. The remaining 60 credits must come from any of the examinations offered within the CII financial planning qualifications framework. At least one current Diploma unit must be passed.

What Diploma units are there?

J01 – Personal tax
J02 – Trusts
J03 – The tax and legal aspects of business
J04 – Pension funding options
J05 – Pension income options
